Jugl - Login, Templates & Invoices

Type

End-to-end UX/UI design of three features for Jugl, a US-based all-in-one work management SaaS for small and medium-sized businesses: a new passwordless login and sign-up on iOS and Android, Board Templates and an Invoices module on the web.

Team

I was the only designer on all three features, working with a Product Owner, web and mobile developers (iOS & Android) and QA in an international, fully remote startup team.

Responsibilities

  • Redesigning login and sign-up on iOS and Android with 6 methods: email, phone and WhatsApp one-time codes, Google, Apple and LinkedIn
  • Designing 4 sign-up paths for invited and new users who join or create a workspace
  • Designing Board Templates: browsing, template details, live demo, applying and requesting templates
  • Designing the Invoices module: list with filters and bulk actions, invoice creation, customer editing and business settings with live preview
  • Covering every edge case (failed login, no internet, workspace limit, empty and error states) and handing off clickable prototypes to developers

Project Summary

Jugl brings tasks, chat, drive, orders, customers and invoicing into one app used by 1,000+ businesses. Between March 2025 and July 2026 I owned three features from research to handoff: the login and sign-up experience, which is the first thing every new user sees, Board Templates that help teams start faster, and a brand-new Invoices module. In total, 300+ screens across web, iOS and Android, each flow with a clickable prototype.

Problem

The old login asked new users to create an account and a password before they saw any value, and 41% of people who downloaded the app never finished signing up. New boards started empty, and most companies created invoices outside Jugl, in spreadsheets and separate tools.

Solution

I designed a passwordless login with one-time codes and the methods people already use every day, clear sign-up paths for invited and new users, ready-made Board Templates that show their value before you apply them, and an Invoices module connected with orders and customers.

Research

Understanding the user

  • Funnel analysis of the old sign-up in Mixpanel: most users dropped off at the password step.
  • 12 interviews with business owners, managers and field employees, many of whom log in on shared work phones.
  • Support tickets review: “I forgot my password” was the #1 reason to contact support.

Mapping user journeys

  • I mapped 4 sign-up paths: invited or not, joining an existing workspace or creating a new one.
  • I listed every point where login can fail (wrong or expired code, failed Google or LinkedIn authentication, no internet, workspace limit reached) and designed a dedicated screen for each.

Research findings

  • 68% of users in key markets use WhatsApp every day, while SMS codes there often arrive late.
  • 3 of 4 new users joined from an invitation, but the old flow treated them like brand-new accounts.
  • Teams that started from an empty board were 2× less likely to return after their first week.
  • 7 of 10 interviewed companies issued invoices in Excel or Word.

Design Approach

Login flows

I designed every login method as its own complete flow (email, phone number and WhatsApp one-time codes, plus Google, Apple and LinkedIn) and prototyped each of them. The code is read automatically, a wrong or expired code gets a clear inline message, and failed social login, lost connection or reaching the workspace limit each have a dedicated screen instead of a generic error.

Font & colors

Jugl's interface is built on Poppins and the brand blue. In login and onboarding I added a soft lilac-to-blue gradient, so the first impression feels lighter and friendlier than the work app behind it.

Invoice statuses (Issued, Paid, Partially paid, Overdue and Void) got colors that stay distinguishable for color-blind users, and all text and color pairs pass WCAG 2.1 AA contrast.

User Testing

I tested clickable prototypes of all three features in 4 rounds with 16 participants and ran an A/B test of the new login against the old one with 2,400 new users. Based on the results, I implemented the following changes:

Final Design

The new login was the biggest win: sign-up conversion grew from 59% to 81% (+37%), time to first login dropped from 2 min 40 s to 45 s, and “forgot password” tickets disappeared completely. Boards created from templates reached their first completed task 2× faster than empty boards, and within 3 months of launch 46% of active workspaces were issuing invoices directly in Jugl.
